Typical Stages of a Bathroom Remodel
Stage 1: Design
Design and planning are an important aspect of kitchen remodeling. Before starting a kitchen remodel we must discuss all our options and narrow them down to 2-3 lay-out designs. Generally the existing layout is kept but sometimes a new layout can be implemented. Appliances need to be selected; all size, model numbers and specifications are to be decided before the cabinets are ordered. The kitchen is to be laid out on paper for final approval.
Stage 2: Purchase / Order material
Material needs to be ordered in advance because it typically takes 6-8 weeks for the cabinets to arrive. Even for more minor projects, lead times for material can inconvenience both the home owner and the contractor. Planning ahead helps to keep the job running smoothly.
Stage 3: Demolition
A start date for demolition will be agreed upon to time the arrival of the cabinets. I take great effort to protect your house and property by setting up dust barriers and protect your existing floor / carpet etc. Once demolition has been completed construction begins.
Stage 4: Construction
The process begins with rough framing, electrical rough-in and plumbing rough-in. Construction is based on an agreed-upon layout.
Stage 5: Close up walls
Once the rough-in is complete the walls are closed up and the window, door and floor trim are installed. The cabinets are installed and fixtures trimmed-out.
Stage 6: Finishing
The kitchen is to be painted and appliances installed. The counter top is installed after everything else has been completed. After counter top is selected a template is taken for the new counter-top and fabrication begins. Typical lead time for counter tops is 2-3 weeks and a temporary counter-top can be installed if needed.
